Leading the Pack is a family-owned and operated grooming salon and boutique. It fills a much-needed niche in pet grooming for Oakland and the East Bay, by giving canines the best stress-free services, in a one-on-one environment.

We believe that every dog is different and even two dogs of the same breed may need completely different services. We customize each service based on the skin and coat condition of your pet, his or her temperament, and the family's lifestyle. Every pet is treated with care and we operate on a one-on-one appointment schedule so your pet spends less time away from home.  We are a kennel-free salon because we want to provide a stress-free environment for your beloved pet.

Not every dog finds grooming enjoyable, and some require special care and attention. Our commitment is to cater to the needs of all non-aggressive special-needs dogs, ensuring a less stressful experience for every pet through our personalized one-on-one approach.

We tailor our services to accommodate each dog's specific requirements. If you have an elderly dog that struggles to stand, we offer various methods to groom them comfortably. For dogs that are fearful or anxious, we can schedule appointments on quieter days and times, and we build in buffers to provide your dog with the space they need.

If your pet is dealing with serious skin problems, we don't charge extra for the necessary shampoo and conditioner, which may include a medicated rinse soak or scrub.
